How to Renew Your NC Real Estate License in 2023: A Step-by-Step Guide

The real estate industry is an ever-evolving field, and as a real estate professional in North Carolina, it's crucial to stay up-to-date and maintain your licensure.

Whether you are a seasoned pro or a newcomer to the field, renewing your NC Real Estate License can seem daunting. But don't worry; we've got you covered. In this article, we will walk you through the entire process of license renewal step-by-step.

Here's How to Renew Your NC Real Estate License:

1. Visit the North Carolina Real Estate Commission Website

Start by heading over to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) website at www.ncrec.gov.

2. Login to the Licensee Portal

At the top right of the homepage, you will find a "Login" dropdown. Click on this, and then select the "Licensee" option.

3. Enter Your License Number and Password

You will need to input your NC Real Estate License Number. If you're unsure of your license number, you can easily look it up on the NCREC website here. Your password should be the last four digits of your social security number, unless you've previously changed it.

4. Initiate the Renewal Process

Once you're logged in, look for the "Renew your license" option at the top of the page and click on it.

5. Update Your Contact Information

After selecting "begin renewal," you'll be prompted to update your contact information, if necessary. Keeping your contact information current is essential for maintaining clear and timely communication with the NCREC.

6. Certify Your Understanding of Employee Misclassification

You'll need to certify that you've read the public notice about employee misclassification. This step ensures that you understand the legal obligations and consequences surrounding employee classification.

7. Report Any Recent Criminal Convictions or Disciplinary Actions

The NCREC requires that you report any recent criminal convictions or disciplinary actions taken by other licensing boards. Transparency is key in maintaining your real estate license.

8. Answer Trust Account Questions (for Brokers-in-Charge)

If you are a Broker-in-Charge (BIC), you will be asked to answer questions about any Trust Accounts for which you are responsible.

9. Pay the Renewal Fee

Lastly, you'll need to pay the $45 renewal fee. Make sure to save a copy of your receipt for your records.

And that's it! You've successfully navigated the renewal process for your NC Real Estate License.

Don't Forget Your Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

Although you can renew your license without completing your CE, remember that if you fail to complete your CE by June 10, 2023, your license will become inactive as of July 1, 2023. Don't let this happen!

To ensure you meet the CE requirements and maintain an active license, consider enrolling in one of our high-quality, informative, and convenient Continuing Education classes. You can check them out here today.

Renewing your NC Real Estate License and staying up-to-date with your CE are key to your continued success in the vibrant world of real estate. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth and stress-free renewal process. Happy selling!
