As you may know, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Board of Directors recently changed the Code of Ethics Training requirement from every two years to every three years. The new deadline to complete your Code of Ethics Training is December 31, 2021.
Who is required to fulfill this requirement?
All members of the National Association of REALTORS® must complete a code of ethics training between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021.
Note: If you are a member of a regional or local board of REALTORS® or if you have access to your local MLS (multiple listing service), then you are likely a member of the National Association of REALTORS® as well.
How do I fulfill this requirement?
REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of not less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of instructional time. We have a course that meets this requirement:
Self Paced Online: Ethical Excellence: Raising the Bar ($59)
A major benefit of taking our courses to fulfill your Code of Ethics training requirement is that these courses will also satisfy part of your annual Continuing Education requirements as well. We will report your course completion to the NC Real Estate Commission for CE credit, but it is your responsibility to report your course completion to your local REALTOR® Board.
Note: While both of these courses are designed to meet the REALTOR® Code of Ethics Training Requirement, please confirm that your local association will accept the course that you decide to take.
What if I fail to meet the Code of Ethics Training Requirement by 12/31/21?
If you fail to complete your Code of Ethics Training by 12/31/21 then your REALTOR® membership will be suspended starting on 1/1/22 until you complete the training. Membership suspension may result in you losing access to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
If you do not complete the training by 3/1/22 then your REALTOR® membership will be terminated at that time.
